State Proposes $82M Office Project

SAN FRANCISCO-The State Compensation Insurance Fund, a nonprofit public enterprise, plans to build a brand-new 11-story office building to replace a 134-space parking lot on the corner of Market and Ninth in the Tenderloin neighborhood, near the Civic Center and Downtown districts.

The state fund hopes to break ground next fall on a 267,000-sf office project at 55 Ninth St. Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum Inc. (HOK), a local design firm, has designed an 11-story, glass-faced building, with an underground garage, which the state says will boost the area’s revitalization efforts.
