One upshot is that the 125,000-sf building National Instruments owns at 6405 Bridgepoint now has 80,000 sf for lease. Tom Kasten of Transwestern Commercial Services is marketing the building for the company. "It's got a great address and it's a good quality building," he says. "But we recognize that it's a slightly older building and we're being aggressive with the rental rates."

Kasten tells GlobeSt.com that National Instruments has no intention to sell the five-story building, which was erected in 1988. Current tenants are NetQOS, the Diamond McCarthy law firm and Valence Technology.

As for its new R&D center, the eight-story building culminates a $59-million capital improvement project that included a 1,400-space parking garage. The company named the new building for James Truchard, one of the company's founders and its CEO.
