The prototype store will be 14,000 sf larger than the typical 63,000-sf Fry's Food Stores and offer groceries as well as general merchandise along with a 10,000-sf garden center, a patio section and a larger housewares section.

Chandler Mayor Boyd Dunn will preside over the ground-breaking along with Todd Kjar, vice president of real estate for Fry's, Scott Jeffy assistant director of real estate, Steve Hagen, Fry's director of facility engineering, Jerry Stutler, assistant director of facility engineering, and Jeff Stone, president of Summit Builders Construction Co. of Phoenix, the general contractor. The store was designed by architect Kurt D. Reed Associates of Scottsdale.
