The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration has approved a two-year-old application for the project at 92 West Miller St. where ORHS plans to complete a 500,000-sf medical campus over the next 10 years.

The Arnold Palmer Hospital expansion will increase that facility's bed count to 431 from 281. The new building is expected to open in January 2006, hospital officials confirm to GlobeSt.com. The 150-bed increase is less than the hospital's initial 161-bed request. A medical office tower that was supposed to centerpiece the existing Arnold Palmer hospital and new building is on hold.

Complementing the Arnold Palmer Hospital expansion on the Downtown campus will be a 10-story, $63 million, 210,000-sf M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, scheduled to open in 2004. The center will have 60 beds and 200 employees.
