The 120,000-sf building, to be situated on the campus at the northeast corner of College and University, will allow the ASU Foundation to consolidate its business operations into 50,000 sf of office space and lease the remainder back to ASU.

Located across the street from two historic ASU buildings, the University Club and Old Main, which were restored and rededicated in 2000, the new facility will incorporate a brick façade into its design to retain the historic character of the area, David Krumwiede, executive vice president in Phoenix for Lincoln Property Co., tells GlobeSt.com.

The Dallas-based real estate firm, which will develop the building on what is now an ASU visitor parking lot, is presently working on plans for the building with Architekton and Gould Evans Associates, two local architectural firms partnering on the project. McCarthy Building Co.'s Phoenix division will be the project's general contractor.

"We'll try to blend the traditions of ASU while keeping the future in mind," said Krumwiede, a 1986 ASU graduate. "The ASU Foundation project provides a terrific opportunity for public-private partnership development. It will allow the best of both perspectives to come forward with the end result being an outstanding addition to the ASU campus environment."

Krumwiede said the building, scheduled to be completed by July 2004, will include a 1,000 car parking structure along with some limited retail space.
