Built 16 years ago, Belvedere Square was a neighborhood hit when it first opened. However, the open-market style shopping center soon fell victim to a loss of tenants due to high leasing prices. The owners now plan to restore the center's popularity with major site improvements, as well as the addition of a 20,000-sf market. "A revitalized Belvedere Square is a major plus for the city and a major anchor for north Baltimore," BDC president MJ Brodie notes. "Property values and tax assessments for commercial and residential properties will rise, and new retailers and services will strengthen the surrounding communities."
