Jan. Start Set for 170-Unit Long-Term Care Facility

NEW YORK CITY-Ground will be broken within the next few weeks on a 120,000-sf long-term care facility in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. The five-story property, which will include 170 single-occupant rooms as well as several common areas, is expected to open its doors in late fall 2004.

The building, to be called the Jacob Reingold Pavilion, is part of the Hebrew Home for the Aged at Riverdale. Some of the Hebrew Home’s residents, currently residing in double-occupancy rooms in the neighboring Resnick Pavilion, will be relocated to single rooms in the new building. The design features 16 “neighborhoods” each with its own living and dining room areas.

Levien & Co., based here, has been hired as project manager for the Pavilion, which will include space for a lounge, beauty parlor, winter garden, solarium, multipurpose room, rehabilitation area with an aquatic therapy program and a community room. Gruzen Samton LLP is the project’s architect. Gotham Construction Company LLC is the construction manager.
