Board members approved a land disposition agreement for several city-owned properties. And the board also signed off on two agreements valued at $1.25 million that will assist the development of the store. "This project is good news for the city, many areas of which are underserved by full-service supermarkets," BDC president M. J. "Jay" Brodie says. "A supermarket in Waverly will help retain and attract residents to the surrounding communities, increase foot traffic along Greenmount Avenue for existing businesses, and stimulate new commercial development, creating jobs for neighborhood residents."
