Extended Stay properties such as this one generally take between nine and 12 months to build and usually incur a cost of around $8 million, according to Allison Hall, the company's corporate communications manager.
This particular hotel is equipped with a 24-hour, coin-operated laundry facility and also features vending machines. All guest rooms include a recliner, cable TV with remote, free voicemail, free local calls and a computer data port, as well as a kitchen with a refrigerator, two-burner range, microwave, coffee maker, utensils and tableware.
In addition, weekly housekeeping service and twice-weekly towel service are provided. Nightly room rates for the new hotel start at $55, while weekly room rates range from $269 to $299.
With the recent opening of the Seattle hotel, Extended Stay now operates 19 properties in Washington and 455 properties overall. Its 455 extended-stay-lodging hotels, which are located in 42 states, consist of 95 StudioPLUS Deluxe Studios, 321 Extended StayAmerica Efficiency Studios and 39 Crossland Economy Studios facilities.
The company decided to venture into the Seattle market because it saw a "growing market," Hall tells GlobeSt.com. "We always open our properties in areas near major traffic arteries where businesses are growing," she adds.
