Named "Project of the Year" in the Phoenix area by the National Association of Industrial and Office properties, the post-modern office tower at 2520 E. Camelback Rd. was developed by Opus West as part of a five-tower high-rise project known as Camelback Esplanade. The project, which began construction in 2000, became home to Merrill Lynch Payne Webber when it opened its doors in March.

The Hayden Ferry Lakeside project, one of the first commercial developments on Tempe Town Lake, became the second largest project to open in the Valley last year with 208,000 sf of office space. Located on the lake's south shore at Rio Salado Drive, the building's major tenant is Suncor, which developed the mixed-use property on 17 acres of land.

Summit Builders put an additional 204,000 sf of office space on line in 2002 with the completion of the Paradise Valley Corporate Center at Cactus Road and Paradise Village Parkway. Completed in March, the four-story, class A office project houses the local offices of American Express.

The Talavi Corporate Center at 5651 W. Talavi Blvd. in Glendale, completed in April, became that city's largest office complex to open in 2002 with 155,478 of space. The three-story center, located on the southwest corner of 56th Avenue and Glendale Boulevard counts Honeywell, Bechtel and Marriott among its tenants.

Three major office developments are expected to come on line in early 2003 to add more than 300,000 sf of office space to the Valley.

The San Tan Corporate Center II, located on 7.28 acres off the Loop 101 in Chandler, will bring 137,000 sf of class A office space to the southeast Valley when it opens in April. That project is being developed by O'Neil Industries Inc.

The MetroCenter submarket will get an additional 95,000 sf of office space when the Black Canyon Corporate Center opens in January at Interstate 17 and Peoria Avenue in Phoenix. Opus West is the developer on that project.

By March, also look for the 90,000 sf Desert Ridge Corporate Center at Tatum Boulevard and the Loop 101 to open its doors.
