The deal for the property at Interstate 35 and Parmer Lane went through in December, according to Mile Burdette, vice president of development and asset management for the seller, Barshop & Oles. The price was not disclosed.
Seton's $100-million project calls for a 451,000-sf hospital with 164 beds, 33-room emergency department and 12-suite surgery center. The planned 100,000-sf office building is to be financed and built by a development company. Seton executives were not available to talk about what might happen now that the company owns the land.
Burdette tells GlobeSt.com that the closing went smoothly. Barshop & Oles still owns about 14 acres, zoned for multifamily, next to the Seton site. "We're just waiting to see when the market's going to come back for that," he says. Seton previously said the hospital would open by Jan. 1, 2007.
