SACRAMENTO-The California Department of Food and Agriculture is renovating its main office building here, which has created a stir among state employees who will be relocated during the project. The department will spend approximately $20 million to vacate and renovate its 76-year-old, 50,000-sf building at 1220 N St.

The project will be funded through state bonds and will require the main building to be empty for 18 months.

The department plans to spend thousands of dollars to relocate top executives to CDFA's four-story annex, located directly behind the main office building.
