In his new post, Johnson will oversee all of the support functions of the Specialty Finance Group, including business strategy development, commercial capital markets, commercial credit risk, marketing, mergers & acquisitions and systems & technology.
"As a member of the Specialty Finance Group's Executive Team, Keith has made significant contributions and provided outstanding leadership to the group," says Craig Chapman, president, Specialty Finance Group. "In recognition of his accomplishments, I am pleased to name him to his new role."
Johnson was previously head of the group's Commercial Capital Markets division, where he was instrumental in developing the company's capital markets program and initiating its CMBS origination program.
Johnson joined Washington Mutual in 2001, when the company acquired Bank United Corp. He joined Bank United in 1986, where he served as Controller and Chief Financial Officer of the bank's mortgage company. He also was Managing Director of Capital Markets and a member of the bank's Senior Credit, Asset Liability, Management Controls and Funding Committee. From 1980 to 1986, Johnson was a CPA with Arthur Andersen & Co, where he specialized in the financial services industry.
