12/31/02: Ernst & Young has just released its “Macroeconomic Advisors, Business Economic Update.” The good news is that the US economy grew at 4% in Q3, mostly buoyed by increased consumer spending credited to favorable financing options offered by auto manufacturers. However, the good news isn’t going to last long. According to Fed Chief Alan Greenspan’s latest testimony, there is a “soft spot” in the economy that probably won’t be resolved until the issues in Iraq are settled. In other words, we aren’t out of the woods yet, and won’t be in the short run. According to the E&Y study, a possible conflict with Iraq could actually push oil prices up to $80 per barrel. Granted, that’s one of the study’s most dire predictions. But $80 per barrel? Who said inflation was a thing of the past?

EDWARDS AND ZUCK P.C. (STAMFORD, CT) John M. Vazquez has joined the international consulting firm. Formerly senior vice president and director of Global Facilities for JP Morgan Chase, he will be responsible for the development and growth of Edwards and Zuck P.C.’s Stamford, CT office.
 

ROCKWOOD REALTY ASSOC. INC. (NEW YORK CITY) Having worked within the team for over 3 years, Steven H. Jacobs has been named managing director and head of Rockwood’s Asset Management Group. He was previously a vice president in MONY’s Real Estate Investment Management Group, responsible for their debt and equity real estate investments.

DRAPER AND KRAMER ADVISORS (WASHINGTON, DC) The real estate investment, asset management and consulting services advisor has appointed John M. Black as senior vice president of its new investment advisory office in Washington, DC. Black was previously at MHI Hotels LLC in Greenbelt, Maryland, where he led hotel investment initiatives as executive vice president and principal.

MCCARTHY BUILDING (DALLAS) Don Barrett assumes the role of project director for McCarthy Building Cos.’ Texas Division. The nine-year company veteran is responsible for overseeing McCarthy’s heavy highway field operations in the Houston area, including a new project on State Hwy. 288, south of Houston.
