D&G, which has about 30 employees, supplies fabricated reinforced steel to construction companies in Central Texas. It also operates a mini-storage facility next to the fabrications plant. Details of the acquisition were not disclosed and a Commercial Metals contact was unable to provide information about the D&G operation.
The announcement of the D&G operation comes the day after Commercial Metals' announced the takeover of another rebar manufacturer, E.L. Wills Inc. in Fresno, CA.
Commercial Metals makes, recycles and sells steel and metal products through 130 locations. Its operations include four steel mini-mills and 29 steel fabrication plants. The company reported net income of $2.2 million on revenues of $629.1 million for the three months ending Nov. 30. Helotes is 16 miles northwest of San Antonio along Texas 16.
