Riggins Takes on VP Role at MeriStar

WASHINGTON, DC-Hotel REIT MeriStar Hospitality Corp. has made changes at the top with the recent promotion of Bruce Riggins to the position of vice president, strategic planning and analysis. In his new role, he will handle the company’s treasury and investor relations issues, and he will also spearhead MeriStar’s budgeting and forecasting activities.

“Bruce has been an integral part of our financial team during a period in which we were actively involved in a number of mergers and acquisitions and significant financing activities,” MeriStar chairman and CEO Paul Whetsell says. “He has a thorough grasp of the complexities of our industry and will continue to be a tremendous asset to our management team.” Riggins had been acting as MeriStar’s director of finance for MeriStar and its management business Interstate Hotels & Resorts since joining the firm in 1998. A certified public accountant, he worked for accounting concern Deloitte & Touche before moving over to MeriStar.
