The measure comes after the state Supreme Court lifted an injunction that prohibited the Secretary of State's Office from certifying or canvassing the results.

The measure overturned House Bill 2901, which the BIAW says lowered unemployment tax rates for Boeing by $16 million over the next three years, while increasing tax rates on homebuilders and small businesses by $30 million. Homebuilders, however, traditionally cost the state more than they pay in to the system.

It's likely some members of the business community will bring the issue of reform back before the 2003 state Legislature in an effort to overhaul once again the unemployment insurance program.

The BIAW has long maintained the tax structure is unfair, but they stressed the solution was not to single out certain businesses for a break while others face increases.
