The developer is negotiating with a national big-box retailer to build a store on an undisclosed amount of land at River Pointe II, area brokers tell GlobeSt.com. Atlanta-based restaurant chain Hooters plans to be the first outparcel tenant. A paved road, connecting River Pointe II to the Wal-Mart shopping center, is nearing completion.

River Pointe Partners bought their five tracts for an undisclosed amount from JDN Development Co., which built the Wal-Mart site. The 31.4-acre tract includes a 6.4-acre parcel annexed from the county on the southeast side. Canton city commissioners approved the shopping center project last week.

In Midtown Atlanta, developer Kim King is moving ahead on negotiations with Target Inc. of Minneapolis to build a department store within his planned 400,000-sf retail development planned at Peachtree Place and Spring Street, two blocks from the Midtown MARTA station.
