Canton OKs 31-Acre Shopping Center

ATLANTA-River Pointe Partners are negotiating with a national big-box retailer to anchor River Pointe II, scheduled to break ground in March on a site east of Interstate 575 about 20 miles north of Downtown Atlanta.

ATLANTA-Metro Atlanta’s never-ending shopping center growth will get another boost in March when River Pointe Partners plan to break ground on River Pointe II, a planned retail venture in suburban Canton, GA. The 31.4-acre project is on Riverstone Parkway, Canton’s main retail corridor, and east of Interstate 575, adjoining the Wal-Mart property in River Pointe I.

The developer is negotiating with a national big-box retailer to build a store on an undisclosed amount of land at River Pointe II, area brokers tell GlobeSt.com. Atlanta-based restaurant chain Hooters plans to be the first outparcel tenant. A paved road, connecting River Pointe II to the Wal-Mart shopping center, is nearing completion.

River Pointe Partners bought their five tracts for an undisclosed amount from JDN Development Co., which built the Wal-Mart site. The 31.4-acre tract includes a 6.4-acre parcel annexed from the county on the southeast side. Canton city commissioners approved the shopping center project last week.
