The two Oregon stores slated for closure--at Jantzen Beach Center in Portland and on Goodpasture Island Road in Eugene--are both "Big K" superstores. After the closures, eight Oregon Kmart stores will remain, including one on Sandy Boulevard in Portland and another on S.W. Murray Boulevard in Beaverton.
When the Troy, Mich.-based retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection almost exactly one year ago, it proceeded to close 284 stores. This new round of closures will bring the total to more than 500 stores.
