Salem-based Puentes Brothers Inc., which posted sales of $13.75 million in 2001, says site work is underway and the new facility is slated for occupancy in July. The existing plant is located at 1660 Industrial Dr. The new tilt-up building will rise nearby at 3060 Industrial Way. NE.
The company says the impetus for the expansion is a new line of products the company is not yet revealing. It currently manufactures several different varieties of tortillas, as well as spices and chili powders, hot sauces and corn husks for making tamales.
Based on its 2001 revenue, Puentes Brothers recently came in at No. 280 on Hispanic Business magazines annual list of the 500 largest Hispanic-owned businesses in the nation.
