The company is closing all 13 of its locations in Washington State, 10 of 14 in Oregon, seven of eight in Idaho and all four in Utah. A ll locations are having liquidation sales. The company blamed soft sales for the closures.

The sweeping retreat from the U.S. market is expected to be completed this spring. The company said it is in final talks with chain retailer about subleasing its locations, but has not identified the would-be successor.

United Furniture Warehouse also said it would close some of its 79 locations in Canada. The company operates 31 locations in British Columbia, 20 locations in Ontario, 18 locations in Alberta, six in Saskatchewan, three in Manitoba and one in Yukon.
