The Corners is a 33,000-sf retail project in construction at Mount Diablo Boulevard and South Main Street in downtown Walnut Creek. The center is expected to open in the spring. The landlord, Orinda-based Lamorinda Development and Investment, recently signed a 10-year lease with Tiffany jewelry store for a 5,000-sf space. In addition, Pottery Barn Kids also leased 9,200-sf at the project.

Apple Computers is now negotiating with Lamorinda for space in the center. The landlord has requested city approval to change its construction plans to suit Apple's needs. The computer company currently has three Bay Area stores and is looking to expand in the area.

John Cumbelich and Brian Hirahara of John Cumbelich & Associates have the project leasing assignment for The Corners. While no details of the lease rates were revealed, Walnut Creek's retail spaces range from $40 to $50 per sf.
