The event also showcased the $12.5-billion New Songdo City project, a joint venture development of the Gale Co. and Posco E&C, Korea's largest engineering and construction firm. Dubbed NSC, the partnership plans to develop 1,500 acres of reclaimed waterfront land with 40 million sf of office space, 10 million sf of retail, a convention center, golf courses, schools, and 25 million sf of residential space. New Songdo City will be home to 150,000 residents.

Kohn Pederson Fox designed the NSC master plan, which was approved by the Mayor. The partnership anticipates that Phase One of the project, a $1.5 billion convention center complex, will break ground by year's end. The final target year for the project is 2020.
