With build-out slated for May 2003, substantial work on the project has already been finished. The framing is nearly wrapped up and exterior finishes are underway, with the property's third building set for completion sometime in March, according to Taylor Frager Inc., the construction company that is building the three-facility complex.

When completed, Island Village Apartments will consist of 281 furnished studio apartments, encompassing approximately 280 sf each, located at 1225 Market St. Designed by Carrier Johnson and M.W. Steele Group Inc., the units will contain a bed, dresser, cable TV, high-speed Internet access, a private bathroom and private kitchen equipped with a microwave oven, sink and small refrigerator. Amenities will include an on-site laundry facility and a communal living room/library. The units, which will be ready for move-in on April 1, will be offered to low-income residents.
