1/30/03: A major challenge for many firms is diversity in the workplace. But let's face facts: as an industry, we haven't done much about it. Many real estate executives, I believe, just don't know where to start. Well, here's a place. Project REAP (Real Estate Apprentice Program) is a Washington, DC-based organization with the mission, they state, to recruit and train African-Americans and other minorities for professional careers in the commercial real estate industry, through education, networking and internships with leading real estate firms. Firms that are already involved include CarrAmerica, Boston Properties, Insignia/ESG, Jones Lang LaSalle, General Growth Properties, Simon Property Group and the Rouse Co. Well, maybe some people do know where to start. So what are you waiting for? For further information, please contact: Michael J. Bush, Esq., executive director, Project REAP; 202-966-0660; Bush [email protected].
