BAA to Build 340-Room Heathrow Hotel

LONDON-BAA Lynton has signed an agreement with Jurys Doyle Hotel Group for the development of a new Jurys Inn three-star hotel at Hatton Cross, Heathrow. It will be the first three-star limited service hotel to be developed on-airport at Heathrow.

LONDON- Jurys Doyle Hotel Group is to operate the first three-star limited service hotel on-airport at Heathrow. BAA Lynton, the commercial property development arm of BAA plc, is to build the 340-room hotel.

BAA Lynton secured detailed planning consent in June 2002 for a 146,228-sf airport hotel. As well as the rooms, the eight storey development, designed by Reid Architects, will provide around 9,000 sf of meeting room space, a restaurant and car parking for 125 cars. The development site fronts the A30 at the south eastern corner of the airport and is only a short walk from Hatton Cross underground station providing fast direct access to Heathrow Airport and Central London.

Exact terms of the deal are undisclosed but Jurys Doyle is taking a 125-year ground lease on the site and investing around £22 million ($36 million) in the development. Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2003 and it will open in Autumn 2004.
