Stephen Ryan and Anne Knowles, who developed a nationally recognized affordable housing practice at the law firm of Bingham McCutchen, plan to relocate their practice to Cox, Castle & Nicholson, accompanied by team members Lisa Weil and Scott Smith.

Ryan formerly chaired the Affordable Housing practice at Bingham McCutchen's San Francisco office, where he specialized in all aspects of financing and development of affordable housing projects throughout the United States. Ryan has more than 20 years of experience representing leading builders, for-profit and nonprofit developers, syndicators, lenders, financiers, public agencies and consultants in structuring complex financing, utilizing low-income housing tax credits, rehabilitation tax credits, tax-exempt bonds and public subsidies.

Knowles was a partner in the Business and Transactions practice group at Bingham McCutchen. She recently served as consultant on affordable housing development issues for Shea Properties and Centex Homes, two of the nation's largest residential builders. Knowles brings 14 years of experience to the table, encompassing negotiating and documenting complex bond financing, affordable housing loans and loan participation, negotiating investment terms of tax credit investors and conducting due diligence on affordable housing and tax-credit issues.

According to Mario Camara, senior member of the Cox, Castle & Nicholson's executive committee, "The synergy created between our mutually existing clients and our respective nationally recognized strengths will enable us to provide cutting edge, cost effective solutions to clients involved in this dynamic housing development sector."
