Broad plans to donate 250 acres of his 2,200-acre Placer Ranch, which is located in the Sunset Industrial Area between Roseville and Lincoln. The land is currently zoned for agricultural use.

According to a representative for Broad, the donation would be a good way to help higher education, while setting the stage for future commercial, residential and retail development in the area.

According to city officials, the project must get state approval and funding before further progression is made. The land will also have to be approved for rezoning by the city.
