Office Depot Plans Spring Opening for Six Madrid Stores

MADRID-Catering to the needs of Spain's small- to medium-size business community, the new stores will take advantage of in-place administrative infrastructure used by Office Depot's European catalog subsidiary.

MADRID-Office Depot Inc. will expand into Spain this spring with six retail stores in downtown Madrid. The office supply superstores are expected to open in April.

The Office Depot concept, ubiquitous in the US, has been tailored for the Spanish market. In addition, the new stores, which will cater to small- to medium-size business customers, will get a leg up by leveraging the existing supply chain and administration infrastructure of Viking Office Products, a wholly owned catalog-based subsidiary of Office Depot launched last year.
