REI Leases at Congressional Village

ROCKVILLE, MD-Recreational Equipment Inc., most commonly known as REI, has committed to leasing nearly 26,000 sf at the Congressional Village Shopping Center. KLNB Retail is coordinating leasing activities at the 100,000-sf retail site, which is owned by The Cohen Cos. The property occupies a space near the meeting point of the Rockville Pike and Halpine Road, and is currently undergoing a massive renovation project. REI will be the anchor tenant in the revitalized shopping center.

“REI is the ideal tenant for this re-positioning effort because the store concept has few competitors, and has proven to draw new consumers from a large radius,” KLNB’s Phil Ruxton notes. “For the next phase, we are seeking entertainment-style restaurants and other exciting merchants that will serve as a destination stop. The area’s outstanding demographics can support almost any retail use.”
