Home Depot Distribution Center to Debut in East Gate Industrial Park

RICHMOND, VA-Home improvement retail chain The Home Depot has revealed its decision to open a 750,000-sf distribution center in Frederick County’s East Gate Industrial Park. The $25-million endeavor will bring 125 new jobs to the area. The development is expected to be up and running sometime this fall.

The distribution center will handle the disbursement of goods coming from outside the US to a bevy of Home Depot locations across the Mid-Atlantic region. “The Fredrick County site was selected based on its overall cost, proximity to stores and the opportunity to cost-effectively process ocean containers through the Virginia International Terminals and the Virginia Inland Port,” Home Depot vice president of distribution services Lee Bandlow explains. “This is a multi-million-dollar investment for Home Depot. Obviously, site selection and the opportunity to work with the right partners play critical roles in this kind of decision. Frederick County was able to provide all of the right criteria to meet our requirements.”
