Classical Kids Academy expects to open the school at 1102 W. Southern Ave. by September in a move that will allow the educational facility to accommodate an additional 15 students. The school, currently located at University and McClintock in Tempe, presently has 35 students. The school plans to convert the space into classrooms and a large music room, Pete Klees with Grubb and Ellis Co. in Phoenix tells GlobeSt.com.
"Until the school came along, the space was marketed for industrial applications, but the market just isn't there right now," said Klees. The space is part of a 46,000-sf, single story building that had been on the market about 30 months when Classic Kids Academy signed the $700,000 lease, Klees said.
Klees represented the academy in the negotiations. Ken McQueen and James Harper, both with Insignia/ESG in Phoenix, bargained the terms for building owner, the San Francisco-based RREEF.
