New Flag, $6M Rehab Will Rise Together

PHOENIX-Come May 15, the Crowne Plaza flag is lowered on the 532-room CBD hotel and a Wyndham banner rises in its place to kick off a $6-million makeover for Phoenix Hospitality's franchise change.

PHOENIX-Downtown’s hotel jewel, the Crowne Plaza, will get a new name and a new look in May when it becomes the Wyndham Phoenix under a 10-year franchise agreement between the property’s owners, Phoenix Hospitality LLC and Wyndham International.

Steve Cohn, managing director of Phoenix Hospitality LLC, tells GlobeSt.com that the May 15 name change will also mark the beginning of a $6-million renovation project to upgrade the property’s 57,000 sf of meeting space along with its lobby and restaurant facilities.

A $1-million facelift of the entrance to the 19-story, 532-room hotel, located at 50 Adams St. in downtown Phoenix, has just wrapped up and room upgrades have begun to add ergonomic chairs and high-speed Internet access, Cohn said. Within three months, numerous upscale amenities aimed at enhancing guest comfort will be added as part of Wyndham’s “Room That Performs” guest program. Among those improvements will be free Internet access and two-line, cordless speaker phone.
