Cornell plans to open the 121-bed facility, called the Texas Adolescent Center, in the third quarter after remodeling, according to a company announcement. The building at 8550 Huebner Rd. has been a Covenant Behavioral Healthcare facility.

A Cornell contact declined to provide GlobeSt.com with more information about the property until the deal closes. The Bexar County Appraisal District lists the owner at Crescent Real Estate Funding VII LP of Forth Worth.

Cornell said its current San Antonio facility, Campbell Griffin Center, at 620 E. Afton Oaks Blvd. in the north central submarket, turned away more than 700 children last year because it didn't have to room to provide care for them. The new facility will help alleviate the situation, it said. The company expects the center to generate revenue of $6 million a year. The company provides correctional, treatment and educational services to adults and juveniles. It has 69 facilities in 13 states.
