"Washington DC is one of the best and most active markets in the country right now," says Rich Kelley, director of New York-based Real Estate Media's conference series. "Our overwhelming response from attendees is testament to that." Kelley adds that the Mid-Atlantic regional event is slated to be the largest RealShare conference to date.
Bruce E. Mosler, president of US Operations for Cushman & Wakefield Inc., is the event's keynote speaker. Mosler is expected to comment on the state of the economy and the real estate business, along with the possible impact of a conflict with Iraq and the effects of recent industry consolidations.
There will also be a session focused on the pent-up demand expected to emerge in 2003 from the General Services Administration-- the largest tenant base in the DC market. The areas real estate opportunities will by discussed by brokers, owners, GSA representatives and members of the Democratic and Republican Chiefs of Staff of the House Public Works Subcommittee on Infrastructure and Transportation--the body that reviews the real estate requirements and portfolios of federal agencies.
In addition, the market's flourishing law community will also be a key focus. In a panel titled Doing a Deal in Today's Market: The Law Firm Lease Negotiation, owners, brokers and law firm administrators will discuss law firm leases, many of which are set to expire in 2006 and 2007.
