The company will now occupy 42,834 sf at the 78,167-sf building, according to the terms of the $5.8-million agreement. Located at 8989 Rio San Diego Dr., the Class A facility dates back to 1984.
Randall Wood of The Sande Co. acted on behalf of State Farm Mutual. The lessor, Griffin Properties LLC, was represented by Jack Kruger of the La Jolla office of BRE Commercial/NAI.
Rio Vista Plaza is one of two buildings that comprise Mission Valley's Rio Vista office complex. The other facility, a 108,080-sf property known as Rio Vista Building, stands at 8885 Rio San Diego Dr. The Shidler Group acquired both facilities and a 1.7-acre parcel in July 2000 for $21.6 million, and then sold Rio Vista Plaza to the current owner for $12.9 million in spring of last year.
