The other project consists of about 200 new homes on111 acres of land between South Lyon and LyonTownship, which surrounds the city.Singh Development Co. of West Bloomfield has optionson the land from the owners, the Langan family, saidLyon Township Supervisor Chris Olson.
Most of the development is in South Lyon. However, thedeveloper won't build the almost $70 million projectunless it can annex about 36 acres of township land toSouth Lyon, which has water and sewer connectionsavailable, Olson told GlobeSt.com.
South Lyon and Singh officials could not be reachedfor comment. Olson said the Township Board of Trusteeshas held a work session and a public informationmeeting about the Singh development, even though nofirm plans have been submitted.Olson said the township may consider allowing theannexation, as long as neighbors to the project aregiven the option to remain township residents, buffering landscape material is installed along theproperty line and the township is given $100,000, theprojected taxes from the property for the next 50years.
The township is flexible, Olson said, because theydon't want to take the chance the state would allowthe annexation of already occupied property."We want to make sure our current residents areprotected," Olson said.
