Harrison is currently senior managing director for Cushman & Wakefield in South Florida. He wants to add to his 14 years as a broker, but plans to retain his current position until his replacement is found.
Harrison says he plans on leasing office space in the Miami area, and potentially "attracting corporate services business too--taking care of corporations and their needs" in multiple cities.
After establishing the Miami office, Harrision remained its branch manager until 1985, at which time he returned to being a broker. He remained a broker until December 1997, when he took on his latest role in management.
During his years as a broker, Harrison was twice--in 1986 and 1987--named Leading Producer in the Southeast United States for Cushman & Wakefield. His best year as a broker was 1987, when he reached $1 million in gross commissions.
The first time he left management, "I said I've had it. I want to get back into production and take care of me and not 100 employees," he recalls. It's basically the same this time, he says.
The reasons he went back into management the second time: "The compensation was better. My title was also client services director, so I did client services across the state. It was appealing."
Harrison has spent all but two of his 24 years with Cushman & Wakefield in the South Florida market. The other two years, he worked in the Mexico City office.
