Local and state organizations rallied together to attract the new project, which could have gone to North Carolina. "We can celebrate a tremendous victory for the economy of our region and another milepost in our effort to diversify the economy by attracting 21st Century technology-based jobs to Southwest Virginia," Virginia Rep. Rick Boucher says of the project. In an effort to lure Harvest to the area, the state signed off on a $50,000 Governor's Opportunity Fund grant. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide workforce training for new Harvest employees.
