Thumbs Up on 30-Acre Power Plant

WARREN COUNTY, VA-Silver Spring, MD-based Competitive Power Ventures has gotten approval from the State Corporation Commission of Virginia to move ahead with the building of a power generating facility on 39 acres of property at the Warren and Kelley Industrial Parks. The environmentally sensitive energy plant is to be called the CPV Warren Electric Generating Facility and will be able to handle up to 520 megawatts of power.

“This is a great step forward for both CPV and Warren County,” says company director of development Tom Eiden. “We feel gratified to have the support of so many Warren County officials and residents. This facility will be a model for environmental stewardship.” The development is a welcome project in the area. No citizens came out against the proposed development during public hearings last summer, and the Warren County Board of Supervisors and the Warren County Planning Commission have made evident their support for the endeavor.
