Battelle Debuts New $20M East Coast Facility

ABERDEEN, MD-Less than two years after breaking ground, Battelle Memorial Institute has completed the $20-million development of its new East Coast headquarters. The Columbus, OH-based technology development company’s new 73,000-sf digs occupy space within the state-owned, 89-acre Higher Education and Applied Technology Center. It was in June of 2001 that the company acquired 30 acres on which to build from the Maryland Transportation Authority in a $2.1 million deal.

Located in Harford County’s burgeoning technology and bioscience corridor, HEAT is strategically located off I-95 and is within close proximity to government clientele and pharmaceutical concerns in and around Washington, DC. Battelle specializes in contract research and development, laboratory management for both the government and the private sector. The new facility sports 16 state-of-the-art chemistry and biology laboratories for the 200 scientists and engineers working out of the new center.
