The board members have recommended that the San Diego Redevelopment Agency approve the pending disposition and development agreement with Lankford, which would enable the company to build the Smart Corner mixed-use project in downtown San Diego. In the meantime, CCDC's board has asked staff to continue working on the affordability levels of the project's residential component, which are subject to approval by the board's committees prior to the redevelopment agency's consideration.
If approved, Lankford's project will rise on the downtown block bounded by Eleventh, Park Boulevard, Broadway and C Street. Designed by Austin Veum Robbins Parshalle, the mixed-use development will be comprised of a 19-story, 299-unit residential tower with ground-floor retail; a five-story, 90,000-sf office facility with ground-floor retail; and a four-level, 634-space subterranean parking structure.
