Equity Office Renovating Pruneyard Inn

CAMPBELL, CA-Equity Office Properties Trust is planning a $1.5-million renovation of The Pruneyard Inn, a 172-room hotel that anchors The Prune Yard, a 251,903-sf upscale shopping, entertainment and office property in the City of Campbell, near San Jose International Airport.

The upgrades are scheduled to begin early in the second quarter and be completed by late summer 2003. The hotel will remain open during the remodel, which will blend the property’s original Spanish Colonial exterior with a Mediterranean-style villa theme. The work is expected to raise the hotel’s rating from three stars to four stars.

The focal point of the new entrance to the hotel is an Italian-tiled porte cochere and 62-foot tower element, both of which reflect the Italian architectural styling through the use of slate and smooth troweled stucco exterior finishes. Additional upgrades include new sconces, backlit shutters, arched window openings, decorative iron railings, a tile trellis, stone columns and a refreshing Italian cast stone fountain.
