ALEXANDRIA, VA-Development of the new US Patent and Trademark Office headquarters has continued to run like a well oiled machine, as evidenced by the recent topping out of two office structures of the five-building campus. “Despite the weather, we’re well on track with construction of this nationally significant project,” says LCOR Inc. executive VP and regional office principal R. William Hard. A Berwyn, PA-based real estate company, LCOR Inc. is behind the development of the facility, and will also serve as the property owner and manager once construction, which is being handled by Turner Construction, comes to an end. Upon ultimate completion in 2005, the $885 million project will boast 2.4 million sf of space for PTO’s employees. Partial occupancy is on time to take place in late fall or early winter of 2003.

Located on a 15-acre parcel across from the King St. metro station, the state-of-the-art compound will consist of five conjoined office buildings set out in a “U” formation. A tower, surrounded by the other four structures, will serve as the facility’s centerpiece. There will also be two parking structures capable of accommodating a total of 3,500 vehicles. “We’re working closely with PTO to carefully plan and build out the campus’s interiors and amenities,” Hard adds. “This will be a world-class facility commensurate with PTO’s national role promoting industrial and technological progress, particularly with regard to intellectual property.”
