Roosevelt Field Mall is touted by owner the Simon Group as the fifth largest mall in the US. The mall, which has a 245-store tenant roster, comes in at 2.4 million sf. By comparison, Simon's Mall of America in Bloomington, MN clocks in at 4.2 million sf and has a tenant roster in excess of 520 stores.

Construction on the new shops is set to begin in coming weeks and wrap up in the fall with up-scale product typical of mega-malls. The Galyan's shop, for instance, will boast a two-story glass facade, a fifty-five-foot-high interior atrium, metal and timber appointments and interactive elements that include a rock-climbing wall.

Once the new Bloomingdale's Furniture Store is complete, the current Bloomingdale's Roosevelt Field location will be extensively remodeled to feature a broader selection of fashion accessories, men's and women's apparel, Bloomingdale's officials state.
