The assessments, which were completed in compliance with ASTM standards by Environmental Business Solutions (a wholly owned subsidiary of SCS Engineers), included site reconnaissance and research, regulatory agency record review, historical land use review and water quality surveys. As a result of the research, Environmental Business Solutions concluded that no recognized environmental conditions caused by hazardous materials or wastes have existed at the site.
Located at 815 Date St. between Eighth and Ninth avenues, the site is currently occupied by a commercial building and surface parking lot. The property will be redeveloped into the Cortez Park Lofts project, which will consist of a new five-story housing complex, with179 residential units and 187 parking spaces. Groundbreaking will kick off in mid-2003, with completion planned for late 2004.
