NEW YORK CITY-The struggling Lower Manhattan district is set to lose another major tenant next year when law firm Pillsbury Winthrop LLP vacates its headquarters at One Battery Park Plaza. The law firm, which comprises nearly 800 lawyers in 17 locations, is opting for approximately 180,000 sf in the Bertelsmann Building at 1540 Broadway.

Beginning April 2004, the firm will occupy floors 18 through 23, along with a portion of the ninth story, in this Time Square building between 45th and 46th streets. Julien J. Stuley Inc. represented Pillsbury in the 15-year lease transaction. The building owner, Bertelsmann, was repped by Insignia/ESG. Pillsbury Winthrop was formed in 2001 after a merger between Pillsbury Madison & Sutro LLP and Winthrop, Stimson, Putnam and Roberts.
