New York City-based Barnes & Noble Inc. is planning a March 2004 opening of a 25,000-sf store at the Centre in Copperfield shopping center, situated along Texas 6 between FM 529 and Glen Chase Drive in northwest Houston. Barnes & Noble did return telephone calls prior to publication for further details.
On the north side of town, Kannapolis, NC-based Shoe Show leased 5,341 sf for five years in the 1.7-million-sf Greenspoint Mall along Interstate 45 North, Eddie Myers of the Dallas office for Woodmont Co. tells GlobeSt.com. He bargained the terms for Shoe Show while the mall's owner, GPM Houston Properties Ltd. used in-house representatives from its controlling partner and manager, California-based Alliance Management Group.
Myers says the mall is about 75% occupied. It is anchored by Dillard's, Foley's, Palais Royal, Sears, Factory-2-U and Greenspoint Expo Center plus it has more than 140 specialty and food court merchants.
Myers says Shoe Show was convinced to take a spot based on a redevelopment plan by the owners. Meanwhile, the retailer also has its eyes on a store at Almeda Mall in southeast Houston.
