In addition, the multifamily residence, originally built in 1926, unveiled its 43 loft units with 12-ft ceilings and 22 penthouse units, each 10 ft high. The 16th and 17th floors were converted to loft and penthouse units, respectively. The project cost more than $2.5 million.

The $150-per-sf Sky Salon is available only to residents of the Roney Palace's three club floors: the 15th floor Club Level, the Loft Level and the Penthouse Level.

"Our goal at the Roney is to provide the very best in luxurious amenities and service," says William Mueller, chief operating officer of the Roney Palace, which is located on Collins Avenue between 23rd and 24th streets. "The addition of the Sky Salon is just one of several projects we have planned to ensure that the Roney delivers leading edge amenities."

The Sky Salon is designed by Miami architect Chad Oppenheim. It will feature expansive views of the Atlantic Ocean, South Beach and the Miami skyline. It will include a high-tech railing system around the lounge area, as well as tropical planters, a pavilion shower with five rainforest showerheads, two large suntan beds and a dining gazebo for entertaining. The solarium will be accessible by the Meditation Walkway. The solarium also will be available to club floor residents for private functions.
